I laid tiredly on the sofa watching the nurse inject the IV fluid through his vein. He stirred to the right side, his gaze pinned on me.

Taking care of my best friend should have felt rewarding and satisfying, but all I felt right now was exhaustion and the strong urge to stay away even though I couldn't.
