Chapter 4: Apologizing

“What did you just say?” David asked again when he heard that, he seemed very angry.

“Hi, Dad!” Anna immediately changed her attitude and greeted him with a smile. “I'm home! Dad, don't you miss me?”

After all, she needed a place to stay, and Tracy was his daughter. Anna didn't believe he could send her away.

“Tracy, you're so fake! After angering your father, are you now going back to laughing it off?" The stepmother ran back and said. “Honey, look, after stealing Jane's jewelry and kicking that poor girl out of the movie company, Tracy returned without a single apology! Do you find that acceptable?” She pretended to be pitiful.

Kick Jane out of the movie company? Anna blinked at the short-haired girl, Tracy's "little sister". It seemed that this mother and daughter had done many things to get her out of the house.

“Mom, don't blame Tracy! She hasn't been home for a long time and probably doesn't have any money left to cover her living expenses. Mom, please sympathize with her!” Jane was even more disgusting, pretending to beg for Tracy and even crying, but in reality, she was secretly slandering her.

“Bang!” David slammed his hand on the table, looked at Anna, and shouted, "You've already spent all your money, so you're going home, right?"

Did this old man only care about this? Anna suddenly felt sympathy for Tracy, who had a truly obscure father and a cruel fake stepmother and sister.

“Dad, don't be angry! It will affect your health!” Jane caressed David's chest with her hand, then turned to Anna with pleading eyes. “Sis, please quickly apologize to Dad! Dad won't be angry with you anymore. Everyone will forgive you!”

What a nausea!

Anna raised her hand to her chest. Besides the feeling of irony, anger and emotion rose within her, even though she didn't really care about this family. No, these were not her feelings but this body's, which was Tracy's.

Even though she didn't know Tracy well, looking at this terrible family, Anna thought she could understand.

"I will not–"

“She won't apologize to anyone!”

Before she finished speaking, a cold and decisive masculine voice rang out.

Anna turned to look and saw Liam enter, carrying a confusing aura of power. He was still wearing the suit that hugged his strong body from before, followed by his assistant. If she were a normal girl, Anna would probably also feel admiration for Liam's handsomeness and superior spirit.

“My future wife will not have to apologize to anyone!” Especially when he uttered such a powerful sentence like this.

But Anna just frowned slightly, looking at him with the expression "Why is a useless guy like you here?"

Liam: “…”

"Mr. Turner, we are honored to have you visit!” Tracy's stepmother happily ran over to greet him. “I know you're a responsible gentleman, but Tracy is a naughty girl, we have to—”

“Maggie!” David's voice rang out when the stepmother was shaming her. He stood up, walked over to where Liam was standing, greeted him, and then spoke to Betty. “Prepare the room for her.”

“Master, her belongings have been… lost,” Betty said with fear, glancing at Maggie.

"It's lost?" Anna exclaimed. “Betty, you should remember carefully, were they lost, or did someone throw them away?”

"Enough!" David shouted at her. “You didn't apologize and now you're slandering Aunt Maggie?”

“Dad, I didn't say she did it, right?” Anna corrected, looking at Tracy's obscure father. “Besides, like I said, I won't apologize for a mistake I didn't commit!”

"Oh my God!" Maggie jumped up and cried to the sky. “What a blatant liar! She did it but she didn't take responsibility for the bad things she did to her sister!”

"Really?" Anna stepped closer to her, curling her red lips into a sarcastic smile. “I'm just afraid it's not me who's lying here, it's you, Maggie!”

“What… what do you mean?” The woman looked at her with a guilty conscience.

“Don't anger me,” she leaned close to her ear and lowered her voice so only Maggie could hear. “If not, I will announce to everyone the truth that your little daughter is not David's biological child. A little DNA test and your secret will be revealed. By then, everything you have will be lost, do you understand?”

“Wh-what-what…?” Maggie's eyes widened in shock, her voice trembled, she almost fell back if she hadn't held onto the wall. Perhaps Tracy was too gentle before, so now when Maggie faced Anna, she couldn't understand and was too surprised.

“Sis, what are you doing to my mom?” Seeing this, Jane cried out. “Dad, look at her!”

“Shut up!” Maggie suddenly exclaimed, interrupting her daughter's words, and then she spoke to David. “Honey, it's late, everyone is tired. Let's rest.”

She understood the problem really quickly. What an experienced temptress! Anna exclaimed. But it looked like she’d temporarily dealt with this woman.

David looked at her, still angry but said nothing and just followed when Maggie pulled his arm. Jane was reluctant at first, glaring at Anna but then left.

“Hey, what about my stuff?” Anna asked after her but she pretended not to hear.

“Lady, you shouldn't cause trouble with Maggie and her daughter,” Betty whispered. “They are very cunning, they will harm you!”

"Don’t worry! I'm not easy to bully!” Anna reassured her and walked away. After taking two steps, she realized something was wrong so she turned around. “Why are you following me?”

That's right, Liam and his assistant were following her as if this was their home.

“Miss Thompson, it's getting late, you should invite my master to stay!” His assistant suggested.

"Why?" Anna asked, feeling very ridiculous.

"Miss…"

“Go away, Martin!” Liam interrupted his assistant's words and calmly told Anna. “I have the right to stay here. This is my future wife's house.”

“Oh,” she nodded as if she had just understood the story, then raised her legs and patted his shoulder. Damn, this guy was so tall. “Sir, let me tell you something, the future wife and the current wife are quite different.”

“What do you mean?” He frowned.

Anna turned around and left while throwing a bored sentence back at him, “It means I have no obligation to let you stay here, Mr. Turner.”

Furthermore, she was thinking, if she was forced to stay here for a long time, she thought she would have to cancel her marriage with this guy.
