Chapter 5: Anna Jenkins

Liam was a little dumbfounded as he watched Tracy gracefully walk away. For some reason, he had the illusion that the girl in front of him had changed a lot as if she had become a different person. Although in the past, Tracy and he agreed to an arranged marriage between their families and had no feelings for each other, they didn’t hate each other. Why was she so cold now? Even the things that happened this afternoon and just now. He didn't know what she said to her stepmother, her stepmother seemed very scared. Tracy used to be a very gentle girl and didn’t want to quarrel with anyone.

“Boss, what should we do now?” Martin suddenly asked.

That's right, Tracy abandoned Liam. Where should he sleep tonight?

“It’s not ‘we’.” Liam said boredly, then walked over to the living room sofa and sat down. “You go home! I will stay here. Let me see who dares to chase me away!”

Martin didn't say anything but his eyes looked at him as if to say, “Don't be such a freeloader, it'll be embarrassing, boss.”

Liam: “…”

“This is for you, Mr. Turner.” A servant came out and gave him a blanket and pillow.

His eyes lit up, and he tried to save the situation: "Your mistress told you to give it to me, didn’t she?"

The servant replied: “No, sir. She told me to ignore you. Betty asked me to bring these to you.”

“Phew!” Martin couldn't help but laugh. When Liam glared at him, he quickly ran away.

The next morning, Anna woke up early, cleaned herself, and changed into a pair of white jeans and a blue T-shirt - the most discreet outfit that Aunt Betty could find to lend her. She tied her hair up neatly. Yesterday, while taking off her makeup, she looked at Tracy's face in the mirror and was momentarily stunned. This girl turned out to be beautiful without makeup and had a hot body. No wonder that Liam Turner kept following her like that.

Anna took the phone and went out. Today, she had to go meet a friend who would probably know who she was even if she time-traveled here. When she went out to the living room, she saw a man sleeping on the sofa, loosely covered with a thin blanket. The clear morning sunlight shone on his peaceful face, making him look gentler than usual. His body looks perfect even when sleeping. What if a girl sees him and attacks him? She wondered and almost burst out laughing.

But that's not her problem. Anna walked out the door and dialed the phone number.

“Beep beep… beep…” A ringing sound was heard in the receiver, but the receiver never picked up. She had to make the third call before Nick's obnoxious voice rang out. “Hi. Who's that?"

“Hi, Nicky, guess who I am.” Anna teased him.

“A free lady with nothing to do? Bye.” He said sarcastically.

“Hey, wait. Damn it. Don't hang up!" Anna quickly said, forgetting that her voice was now Tracy's and this pompous guy didn't recognize it.

"Who is that?" Nick's voice was mixed with surprise and curiosity. As expected of her good friend, he is very sharp. He must have noticed her way of talking.

“It's me, Anna Jenkins.”

“Oh, yes. Go get a life, girl.”

“Wait. No, I'm not kidding. I'm Anna.” She quickly said. This bastard turned out to be more stupid than she thought, without even realizing her. “I'm your friend, Nicky. On your 25th birthday, we went drinking at the Saloon Bar and you gave me a bracelet, don't you remember?”

“...” The other end of the line was silent, then there was a surprised inhale. It took a while for him to answer. “But… but I'm only 22 years old. And why should I give you a present on my birthday?”

That's what he should ask himself because Anna doesn't understand either. She replied: "If I said I time traveled back to the past from 3 years in the future, would you believe it?"

“Damn it, is it really you, Anna?” He exclaimed. “God! I knew you wouldn't abandon me!”

His voice suddenly filled with emotion as if he was about to cry. Anna asked in surprise: "What's wrong? What do I mean by abandoning you?”

“You time traveled without knowing? In this timeline, you have been in a coma for several months now." Nick's voice sounded like he was holding back something.

"In a coma? Me?” Anna exclaimed.

Right, she missed something important. If she time-traveled here and accidentally entered Tracy's body, then it is possible that her soul also entered her body. But maybe Tracy is already dead.

“Where am I, I mean Anna’s body, now?”

“Heartstone Hospital. Come here!”

***

Anna took a taxi to the hospital and walked inside. This hospital was his family's property. She and Nick used to be friends at the same university and later often talked to each other about some research. He was a talented doctor and had also made some contributions to the medical profession in the country.

“I have an appointment with Nicky,” Anna told the nurse on duty outside Nick's office.

“What is your name?” The young nurse looked Anna up and down and asked.

“I'm An... Sorry, I'm Tracy.”

The nurse looked at the list and then smiled at Anna: "Sorry, Dr. Lawson doesn't have an appointment with anyone named Tracy today. You can come another day.”

Anna rolled her eyes at the nurse. It seemed like this girl didn't like her. She shouldn't chase away Nick's guests like that, should she?

Anna was still wondering when a female voice rang out next to her, "Whoa, another young girl came all the way here to see Dr. Lawson even though she's not sick."

“What do you mean?” Anna looked curiously at the girl wearing heavy makeup and a red dress standing next to her.

“Stop pretending to be naive. I know you well.” That girl smiled casually. “You are actress Tracy Thompson, right? Who doesn't know that you singers and actors specialize in approaching the heirs of the richest corporations to marry into rich families?"

So that’s it. Anna understood. It turns out that Tracy's appearance and profession caused so many troubles. From yesterday until now, wherever she went, she attracted everyone's attention. Was this what Rose envied about her and wanted to harm her?

“I don't know, but one thing I know is,” Anna replied to that girl, “your knowledge is too limited to go around. The Lawson family is not as rich as the Turner family. If I wanted to get married, I would have agreed to marry Young Master Liam of the Turner family, girl!”

“…” The girl opened her eyes and mouth wide as if she wanted to respond but didn't know what to say.

“Hahaha, clap clap.” At this moment, a deep, happy laugh rang out, accompanied by applause. “As expected of you as my friend.”

Anna turned her head to look at the man wearing a white blouse who had just appeared. Before she could say hello, he hugged her tightly.
