Chapter 8_ A beautiful wedding indeed

Luca's POV

“I am not a religious person, but I know it is a crime to wed another man's wife," I declared.

The silence that followed was deafening. Then chaos erupted.

"And who the heck are you?” Tatiana Roberts screeched, her surgically altered face twisting into a frown.

"My goodness!” I gasped dramatically, my hands flying to cover my mouth in shock as I made my way to her seat.

"Excuse my manners,” I took her hand and kissed it. "I am Luca De Santo, your son-in-law. Pleased to finally meet you in person, Tatiana Roberts. I have heard so much about you,” I gave her an evil sneer.

Time stood still as my words sank in.

Every eye popped in shock.

"Luca De Santo?!” Tatiana gasped, clearly shocked.

“In the flesh,” I replied confidently, adjusting the collar of my tuxedo. "Oh, you were not expecting me?” I chuckled.

"And what the heck are you doing here?!” Bernard Veritas bellowed, stepping into my space, too close to my face.

"I came to watch you marry my wife," I replied, nonchalant, arms folded.

“You are not Luca De Santo, you are Tony!" Jade screamed in disbelief, shaking her head.

“I have different names, Princess," I gave her a lopsided smile. “I can answer Tony in the morning, and Luca in the evening, depending on the circumstance," I shrugged, moving closer to her.

“What are you doing here, looking enchanting in a white dress?" I slowly raked my eyes over her. “Getting ready to cheat on me?"

"Your phone was not going through!” She protested, terror evenly spread over her face. “I called several times, but it went into voicemail."

“What shit are you both talking about?" Bernard demanded, stepping between us.

“I am talking about this!" I roared, pulling my wedding certificate from my tux pocket and holding it up for them to see. “Does this look like shit to you?"

"Is this what you were trying to tell me about, Jade?” Ruby, Jade's best friend asked, horrified.

I watched my wife nod in response, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Tell you about what?” Tatiana intercepted. " Jade what did you do?”

"Mom I swear I didn't know he was Luca De Santo. He was an ordinary cab driver by the name Tony,” Jade defended herself, sobbing.

“So what happened?” Tatiana pressed on.

“I paid him to marry me, so I won't have to marry Bernard. I had no idea he was Luca."

“Jesus, Jade!" Tatiana, the priest and Ruby exclaimed.

I let out a chuckle.

“That's all bullshit," Bernard growled, whipping out a pistol from the waist of his trousers. “Luca De Santo, or whatever you call yourself, get lost before I blow your brains out!"

I tsked, turning to face him, a smirk on my face.

This guy was jumping too close to the edge of a cliff, unaware.

He stood there, face tight, right arm outstretched with a gun pointed at my forehead, fingers hovering over the trigger.

I stepped closer and placed my forehead against the barrel, my eyes fixed on his.

I could hear Jade shriek in fright.

“I dare you, Bernard fucking Veritas, pull the damn trigger," I growled as I snapped my fingers, my tone coldly menacing.

The congregation rose.

Guns flew out of holsters and garters, everyone moving in a straight line, as they all encircled us, all guns pointed at Bernard.

Seeing he is outnumbered, Bernard dropped his gun.

“You are backing up, bro?" I challenged, hitting him on the chest. “Go on, pull the fucking trigger! Blow my brains out, let me show you what a bloodbath looks like!"

Sweat coated his forehead.

“Bernard fucking Veritas," I muttered icily, circling him slowly, “ready to reap where he did not sow. Ready to marry my wife and take over my company, isn't Bro?" I sneered in his face.

He knew better than respond.

“I respectfully introduced myself as Luca De Santo, and you had the guts to pull a gun at me. What brains do you have, Bro?" I spat into his face.

“Are you sick or something? You think I roll in your coward circles, moving around unprepared?"

No response.

“What's stopping you from pulling the trigger? Send a bullet flying, let me make you beg for death, you thief!"

"And you, Tatiana Roberts,” I whipped around to face my mother-in-law, my facial features monstrous.

She backed away in fear, hands raised in surrender.

"Your husband's death was not enough warning, I assume. You had the balls to team up with this thief and plan to overthrow my company. Did it ever occur to you that you would be standing face to face with me?”

She shook her head.

"I need an answer!” I snarled, baring my teeth.

"No Luca,” she stammered. "I am so sorry. Please don't kill me,” she begged.

"You have no right to beg for mercy,” I said with a chuckle. "Traitors die, just like your husband. No one outwits Luca De Santo and lives to tell the tale.”

Tatiana shook like a leaf.

A spineless coward, just like her husband.

Biting more than they can chew.

“I am only giving you a second chance because of my traumatized bride," I said, giving Jade a wink. “She has seen enough already."

“Thank you so much, Luca," Tatiana heaved in relief, falling on her knees.

“Save it," I snapped, and turned back to a stunned Bernard.

His suit was drenched in sweat, surprise and disbelief coating his features.

I adjusted his tie and the collar of his suit.

“The next time we meet, you coward, I hope it happens in a place free enough to draw swords, and not in a church. It will be my pleasure to chop your head off.”

"If you want at least five more years added to your miserable life, stay out of my lane,” I warned through gritted teeth.

P me, avoid my company, avoid my wife. Run away. Disappear. Take four abusive threats to the next victim. The day she sees, or hears from you again, will be the day I relieve you of your wretched existence."

Taking Jade's hand, I walked over to the priest. He backed into the wall, his body shaking with fear.

“My wife and I would love to appreciate you for lending us your space for our little drama, and for keeping quiet," I said, bowing slightly in mock regard. “Thank you, Father.”

Turning to Tatiana Roberts, I gave her a wide, dimpled smiles. "My wife and I would like to take our leave now. Thank you for everything. Please , enjoy the rest of your day.”

My lawyers will meet with yours on Monday. Do me a favour, and don't keep them waiting,” I warned.

I walked out of the cathedral, Jade's hand in mine, my wife sobbing uncontrollably, the rest of the congregation behind us, and Tatiana Robert's scream of "Jade, what have you done?!” ringing loudly in my ears.

I stormed a wedding, and I took home the bride.
