IVARA'S POV:

The smoke hasn’t faded. Even after days, it still clings to my skin; the scent of burnt metal and blood. I can’t wash it off. I’ve tried.

Every time I close my eyes, I see the fire again. The wolves torn apart, homes reduced to cinders, their howls echoing through the night. I see Kael’s ledger in my hands, the proof that my father’s hands are soaked in the same blood I’m trying to save.
