Aria POV

The room smelled of bleach and damp stone. Pale light seeped through the barred window, making the white walls a pale gray. My arms shook as I held the pen they had shoved into my hand. The papers in front of me were thick, covered with formal words that swam before my eyes.

“Sign,” Cassandra whispered sweetly from across the table. Her lipstick was the color of dried blood. “Just one signature and you’re free. You and the baby can walk out of here.”
