"I can do it," Marissa instantly cut me off and grabbed her satchel before I could even hold it from the side table. "Uhhh, I'll just wait outside for you."

I was about to ask her what was wrong, but she already turned her back without even saying a word to me and left me in the room. Chills went through my skin as the silence engulfed me after she left. I blinked in confusion.
