Dorian's POV"Who is she?" I demanded from Eric. "I thought I told you to find the woman's identity."
"We have been working on it but no one has been able to figure out who she is."
"And you are able to open your mouth and say that in my presence?"
"I'm sorry Alpha Dorian. We will double our efforts and bring you her identity."
"You have until sundown and you better not disappoint me."
"Yes sir."
Eric scampered off, leaving me alone in my chambers. I walked, barefoot, to and fro as was my ritual whenever I was thinking about something.
Ever since I had heard the rumor that my cousin, Malik, was now associated with an unknown woman, I had been having a weird, eerie feeling.
All I wanted to know was who she was and what they were up to.
Malik and his mother had been in the human territory for as long as I could remember.
"If he were to have a new woman, she would definitely have to be human," I muttered to myself.
However, there was this feeling I got that made me feel like this person was no ordinary human being.
There was something about her and my instincts are never wrong.

"Alpha Dorian."
"Tell me you have good news."
"Due to the time limitation, I was only able to get her picture. I have it here with me," Eric presented a picture. "If I can have more time, I can get you her complete identity. My men are already working on…"
"Hand it over!"
He was a bit startled at my interruption but he immediately cooperated and gave me the paper.
I waved a hand of dismissal and he left me immediately.
Of course. It was her.
The picture was blurry but I could still tell her features very clearly.
So after all these years, this was where she was. Of all places for her to go, she chose the human world?
How ironic was it that she ended up in the same location as my cousin?
Immediately I saw her, a million different ideas started popping into my head.
"Baby," that grating voice brought me out of my reverie.
I quickly kept the picture aside to avoid her seeing it. Not that I was afraid of her but her constant nagging annoyed me.
I didn't need her asking me questions that even I, could not, answer.
"Astrid. I thought you were out with the women of the pack. You told me you had a meeting with them and you would be out all day."
"That's what I thought too but they don't respect me. They told me, to my face, that as long as I wasn't their Luna, they would not take orders from me."
"That's impossible. They would not dare disrespect you like that."
"Oh, but they would and I don't blame them. If I were in their shoes too, I would do the same thing."
"Of course you would," I muttered in a low tone.
"What did you say?" she asked sharply even though she clearly heard me.
"Nothing, darling."
"Oh good."
"If you don't mind, honey, I was busy with some work before you came in."
"Aww. Are you sending me away?"
"No, my love. I just need some privacy," I said stiffly.
"Well, we need to talk about your father's funeral."
"What about it?"
"We are going in together right?"
"Of course. We always do," I replied impatiently.
"No I'm asking if we're going in as Alpha and Luna?"
Oh no. Not this again.
She was hell-bent on rushing the whole process but I, on the other hand, was nowhere near ready for that commitment.
I wasn't ready to tell her just yet. I was trying to avoid all hell breaking loose.
"Of course we are."
"Really?" she squealed excitedly.
"Sure, baby."
She smiled and planted a wet kiss on my cheek and I all but gagged at the gesture.
"Alright, my love. I'm going to let you continue working while I pick a dress for tomorrow."
"Great."
"Yes, I have to look stunning for you that day," she waggled her eyebrows at me suggestively.
She finally left the room and I got up immediately to get to work.
I found one of the invitation cards for the funeral. I quickly scribbled some words before putting them into an envelope.
"Eric!" I yelled and he immediately appeared in my chambers.
"Yes, sir."
"Take this message and deliver it to the woman in the picture."
"Yes sir."
"Good. Make sure to confirm it before delivery."
"I will, sir."
***
It had been a few days since Eric confirmed that he had delivered the message to her.
I had a feeling that she was not going to come but something told me to be patient. I had hope that she would be led back to her roots.
On that particular evening, I needed air from the pack house so I stepped out and shifted.
The breeze whipped behind me as I bounded for the woods. The temperature got lower as I went deeper into the woods.
I wanted to get away from civilization. I had a private area in the woods where I went to whenever I needed some privacy.
The wind led me up a hill and I could see over the whole of the pack. My eyes scanned the scenery as I shook off the cold from my fur.
From the corner of my eye, I saw her. There she was, gliding through the woods.
Her ginger colored fur stood out from the rest of nature. I shifted back into my human form to be sure of what I was seeing.
It had been years since I saw her wolf. If she really was the one then it meant that she was back.
Excitedly, I shifted back and ran straight to where I had spotted her.
I got to the exact spot and searched but she was not there.
She had suddenly disappeared into thin air.
