“You have been ignoring my calls. Does that sound sensible to you?” Adrian's voice came through over the phone. I sat up in bed, glancing at the door to ensure it was locked.

“Am I obliged to take your calls?” I shot back. “If you want to rant about how your economic situation is going down the drain, you can, but don't put the blame on me.”

“Hilarious.” He laughed softly, and then he went quiet. I had to break the silence before he spoke his mind.
