“Miguel…” Nora called out after me as I rushed to leave the human dwelling. “Miguel, wait!”

But I couldn’t wait. Not after what Calista had told me. Not after what I knew. I rushed through the wooden brush, the pants of my slacks snagging on the briar thorns. I could hear Nora hot on my heels, hearing her call for me to wait. But my eyes were focused dead ahead as my cabin came into view.
