I try to move my head to see where the noise is coming from, but a burst of agony pushes me back down. I can’t hold my form any longer. I shift back into a human, my naked flesh bare against the battering of cold wind.

I see a silver light ignite in the dark, brighter than the first visage of the sun on the horizon. I think I hear a voice somewhere far away, but it feels like nails are being driven through my scar.
