Bruce sat beside me reviewing documents Victor had sent while his jaw was clenched tight.

"Chen has been building his case for months," Bruce muttered while flipping through reports. "Every decision I made while in London. Every pack meeting I missed. He documented everything."

Emma fussed in my lap and I bounced her gently. She did not remember America but she was picking up on her parents' stress. Babies always knew when something was wrong.
