I signed the promotion papers, and Victor would become Chief Operating Officer of Leonard Industries effective immediately.

"You are sure about this?" Victor asked while standing across from my desk. He had been my second-in-command for eight years and earned this role a hundred times over.

"I am sure," I said while meeting his eyes. "The company needs leadership that is not divided between business and pack. You have the vision and the drive. Take it."
