I felt Bruce’s presence before I saw him and the sensation hit like lightning through every nerve in my body. The mate bond flared hot with how angry and betrayed he was feeling through the connection we still shared despite the distance.

My head snapped up from the conversation I was having with Lucas about his daughter's struggle with nightmares. Bruce stood outside the coffee shop staring through the plate-glass window with a look that made my heart stop.
