Jenine's POV

I slowed down, eyes squinting as I peered into the darkness.

“Avoid the roads,” Laura had cautioned. “It's too dangerous to be out there alone tonight.”

And so, I had listened to her making my way through the woods. I had forgotten what it felt like to be human. I had taken for granted that my wolf helped me remember my way through these woods.
