Grace POV

The vase shatters.

Silence stretches.

Then Lilith's voice—sharp, panicked. "I have to go."

I don't hide. Don't run.

Instead, I stride forward. Around the corner. Into the alcove.

Lilith stands by the window, phone pressed to her ear. Her face goes white when she sees me.

"Grace—"

I cross the space in three steps. Reach out. "Give me the phone."

"What? No—"

"Give it to me." My voice is steel. "Now."
