"We should take Alice back to White Rock Pack first," I say.

Alice's expression shifts. The brightness dims. Her smile stays but loses its warmth.

"You don't have to—"

"Nonsense." I link my arm through hers. "You came all this way to support me. The least we can do is see you home safely."

Ethan nods. "My car is outside."

Alice's shoulders slump. "Thank you."
