I decided I didn’t want to ruin the residual happiness of spending the weekend with Henry by calling my father back on Monday, so instead, I cleared a space on my floor, put one of my books in front of me, set a timer, and put myself into a plank.

I realized that, unlike my mate, I can’t use distraction to get me through this. I’ve just about decided that I can’t do anymore when there’s a knock at my door.
