THEIR PROMISES

Aadhira's POV:

I got up from the chair and went near the door. But still, those three were looking at me with different expressions. I would deal with these idiots later. I opened the door but stopped when I remembered something.

"Where is the devil's cabin? I need to report to him. Otherwise, he will kill me," I asked and waited for an answer, but still, no one spoke.

Lucas POV:

She asked and looked at everyone for an answer. I knew that if I didn’t speak now, I’d mess up. I prepared myself to face another loss in my life. I knew that after revealing my identity, she would leave me.

"You're already in the devil's cabin," I said, looking down. I didn't hear any sounds for a minute.

Then I heard the loud sound of the door opening and some footsteps. Then I heard the harsh sound of the door closing. I closed my eyes, not wanting Varun to know that I was attracted to his sister. Yes, I am attracted to my demon. But now I had lost her. I tried hard to control my tears. I still didn't know why I was crying. I didn’t want her to leave me.

I controlled my emotions, which was the only thing I was doing with my feelings. Yes, I controlled my emotions all the time. Never once did I show them to someone. But this time it was hard. I opened my eyes and saw that Varun and that girl had also left the room with my demon. I felt empty inside.

But then I felt a tap on my shoulder from behind. I turned to see who it was. There stood my demon with her arms crossed, looking at me with questioning eyes. I immediately hugged her tightly. I placed my head in the crook of her neck, and unknowingly, my tears broke out.

She hugged me back and started to caress my hair. I didn’t know why I was hugging her. I didn’t know why I was crying, but all I knew was that she had become important to me within 24 hours. Can someone become this close, this soon? I knew it this morning when I woke up desperate to see her. How did I wake up before my alarm rang? It all proved to me that she was important to me.

I closed my eyes, feeling relaxed for the first time in years. I opened my eyes after feeling refreshed. I pulled away from the hug but felt the loss of warmth. She looked at me for some time. After confirming that I was back to my normal self, she returned to her demon self.

**Aadhira POV:**

I didn’t know why, but he felt more like a child than the devil.

"Why did you hide your identity?" I asked him, but he just looked at me without replying.

"I... thought you’d lea... leave me," he said after a few minutes.

"Why did you think that?" I asked him again.

"Because I'm a devil," he said, looking down.

"Are you afraid of losing me?" I asked, and he slowly nodded his head.

I smiled, seeing this devil behaving like a baby in front of me.

"I trust you," I said, and he looked at me like I had said I love you.

"I'm sorry. What... what did you say?" he asked, looking at me with an unknown emotion.

"I said I trust you. Yesterday, you just ignored my questions. You didn’t lie to me, though. So, I don’t have any reason to be angry with you. But one thing, if you want to ask me something, you surely can. But like you’re thinking, I'm not a normal girl. Varun's and my life are different from others. So, like Miya, you shouldn’t expect me to tell you everything. When the time comes, I’ll surely tell you, but I promise that I won’t cheat on your friendship or your company. You have to trust me. We are going through something dangerous, so please stay away from me," I said and left the room.

I knew this was necessary, and after seeing him like that, I didn’t want him dragged into my mess. But I understood that I had to take care of him. I promised myself that I’d take care of him and also keep him away from me.

Lucas POV:

She went outside after saying something I failed to understand clearly. What was she saying? Was she going through a hard time? I knew that Varun was always tense about something, but I thought that was just his nature. My demon’s nature was the opposite of Varun's; even though she was strong, she was like a baby. I guessed it was time for my devil to step in. I took out my mobile and called him.

“I want information about my current personal assistant and my bodyguard. Both are siblings, and I don’t want any harm to come to her,” I said and waited for his famous sentence.

“Within 24 hours, boss,” he said, and I ended the call. Yes, this was his famous sentence.

I knew she would hate me for doing this, but I promised myself that I would help her out of her mess.

I was now looking at the footage running on the computer, trying to find where she went. I found her in the cafeteria with Varun. She was talking to him about something serious; the person who looked tense was not her but Varun. Varun nodded his head and showed her something on his mobile, but I couldn’t see what it was. Then they both left the cafeteria, and I knew they must be coming here.

I started to act like I was concentrating on my work, but to my disappointment, they both went to her friend’s floor, and my demon started to drag her friend with her. It was already 5:00, closing time, so I thought they were going somewhere to enjoy themselves, and once again, I was all alone.
