THEIR FIRST MEETING

Daniel's POV:

"Oliver, wait a while. I'll call you later.“ I cut the call, and turn to her. God, she’s so beautiful, like an angel. She has flawless skin, and mesmerizing hazel brown eyes. She’s asking me something, but I can’t concentrate on anything. I’m only looking at her eyes, which remind me of something which I can't quite place.

When I finally force myself to focus, I realise that she looks very tired and weak. She has dark circles under her eyes. While I'm lost in my thoughts, she waves her hand in front of me which causes me to snap out of my trance.

“I'm sorry, did you ask me something?"

"Yes, sir. Do you need any help? You look worried, and you were shouting at your mobile. I thought perhaps you needed some help?"

"Actually, my car broke down a short way from here. I walked here looking for some help. I don’t know where we are, as I’m new here."

"Oh, this place is called green lake. Look over there; there is a lake. I don’t know whether you're able to see it or not. It is located on the city outskirts. You won't get any help here easily. There is a short cut from here into the city. It's just twenty minutes walk. I always come here that way. If you want, I can tell you where the short cut is so that you can call someone to come help you. If they use the short cut, they can be here within ten minutes. Or, you can walk back with me as I’m leaving now." she explains.

I'm not stupid enough to let this opportunity to find out if she is the same girl from last night's phone call pass me by. I'm 100% sure that she doesn't recognise me. I’m surprised that she really doesn’t know the world’s most handsome eligible bachelor billionaire.

"Oh, okay. Thank you. Please wait, I’ll call my bod... I mean my friend and ask him whether he is free or not."

"Okay, I'll wait.“ Then I call Oliver. He answers the call on the first ring. Of course he is waiting for my call.

“Oliver, are you free now? Can you please come pick me up? I’ll tell you about a short cut, it will not take more than twenty minutes to drive here from the city."

He doesn't reply, and I know it's because I'm calling him by his first name and requesting his help, which is something totally new for him and for everyone.

I feel a need to act for her sake, though. “Oliver, are you there?"

“Si...sir...sir... I..." he stutters.

Wow. A man who can kill someone with one punch is stammering this much? This is the first time he has stammered this much. Actually he is the only person who does not stammer when I yell at him, because he is use to me. I’ll always yell at him like a devil, no matter what. But he always keeps his composure. But now he is stammering when I’m talking to him normally.

“It's okay, Oliver. I know you’re busy. You don’t have to pick me up. I’ll get back on my own."

“Sir. What are you doing? I’m not busy. Sir, don’t go anywhere. It will be a problem. People will recognise you. I’ll be there as soon as possible. It is dangerous for you, sir."

“I know, Oliver. Trust me. I’ll get back by myself. You don’t have to worry about me. And I know you’re really busy."

“No. No, sir, please listen to me."

"No, Oliver, do one thing. Ask some of your friends to come pick up my car from here. Okay bye."

Sir. Sir..."

“Bye. Bye.“ I cut the call, not letting him speak any further. Then I look at her. She is looking at me with big question marks in her eyes. I’m shaking with fear now, has she found out that I’m lying? Or worse, has she found out who she talking to? So I ask her directly.

“Why are you looking at me like that?"

“Are you working in King's Empire?"

What? No, I’m not working there because I’m the owner of King's Empire, and I’m the king. But I think she recognises my voice from yesterday's phone call. So I have to play my cards right.

“Yeah. But how do you know? Do you also work there?“ I ask her, rolling my eyes in confusion. I think I deserve an Oscar award. I really want to know each and every single thing about her.

“No. My friend works there. Late last night, one of her colleagues called her asking about some presentation. I think that guy's voice matches yours. So I just asked whether you’re that person. Are you that guy?"

Now I’m 100% sure, she’s my Tesoro. “Oh yeah. I also recognised your voice, but I wasn't sure, so I didn’t say anything. So, you’re Ms. Joseph’s friend?"

"Yes, I am. I think we should start walking now. Otherwise, it will be very late when we get to the city."

"Okay." And we both start to walk. I really have to be careful with what I say, otherwise I’ll be caught.

“Oh yeah. Did your boss accept your request? I didn’t call Cathy today."

“Yes, he accepted my request, thank you. The meeting went well. After the meeting, I came here as I wanted some time alone."

"Oh, okay."

After that, neither of us speak for a while. We were both walking peacefully. There is a comfortable silence between us. Suddenly I realise something, so I ask her: "Were you by yourself there? Wasn't anybody else with you?"

“I'll only tell you if you promise not to tell Cathy about this.“

"No, I won't tell her. I promise. It will be our secret."

“Okay then. Yes, I came here all alone. I always come here when I want some alone time. No one knows this other than me. Now you know my secret. I don’t know why, but I feel some peace whenever I come here. I think this place has a special connection to my heart."

“I'm glad that you shared your secret with me. I promise I’ll not share it with anyone."

"Thank you."
