The Barnes mansion is such a masterpiece, its nothing like I have seen before not even in movies, this is a palace befitting a King, My heart was racing so fast, it felt like I was losing my breath as I took each step after the other towards the dining room, where my knight who would save me from distress was waiting for me.
The butler opened the door to the large dining room. There he is, his back turned standing in front of the fire place with a glass of red wine in hand, he turned towards me and it took every ounce of will I had not to fall flat on my face, he was perfection, from his perfectly laid back hair, blue eyes, chiseled jaw, neatly trimmed beards and a well tailored suit that fits his broad shoulders oh my, such a fine man
“Lorah, I hope it’s not much of a hassle bringing you all the way here for our date? He said and held out his hands to take mine, but I shook my head in response; I didn’t trust myself to speak
“I would not want the press hounding us on our first date. I hope you understand,” he added and pulled out a chair for me
He beckoned to the chef, who was already on standby, and placed orders for both of us. I am fine with anything he orders me; at this point, anything he says is totally right. There was no conversation for the rest of the meal, for which I was more than grateful, seeing as I had not recovered from my stunned state.
“You clean up nice, you did better than my expectations.” he dropped his cutlery with his gaze locked onto mine
“You don’t look bad yourself,” I smiled shyly
“You’ll meet with my personal assistant tomorrow, she’ll go over the details with you.”
I was momentarily lost, details?. Tomorrow? About what? Then it clicked the wedding! “oh alright, is it going to be a private wedding or a big affair?”
He had a smirk on his face and said, “It’s the Barnes wedding, of course, it's a big affair.” he pushed back his chair and said, “My chauffeur will take you back home. Good night.” With that, he walked out of the room. What had just happened? We had barely spent an hour together, or did I do something wrong? I tossed in bed all night, nervous and eager to go check out my wedding dress the next day.
“Hello, you must be Ann,” I greeted the tall blonde woman as she entered, she ignored my greetings and sat across my sitting position. She’s late by two hours! I tried my best not to be late to the wedding planner’s office since Austin texted me the details this morning. just then, the wedding planner came in with her arms full of different brochures.
“oh she won’t be needing any of that, the only reason she’s here is to get her measurement done for her dress and shoe fittings” Ann told the wedding planner without looking up from her iPad.
“But I should be getting my own dress” I protested.
If looks could kill, I’ll be dead right now, Ann sent me a death glare and half yelling she said “Take it up with Austin then.”
Just then Austin came into the boutique, I’d not expect him to be here.
“Austin, Lorah is being so difficult, she’s not making it easy to work with her with the preparations” Ann said to Austin.
“No, I just wanted to-
“Don’t make this any tedious for us” he said cutting me off “Now, be a good girl and do what Ann says, by the way the engagement has been announced this morning. The wedding will take place in two days”.
“Two days! But this is all too fast, I don’t have enough time to prepare, there’s a lot to still do” I exclaimed. This must be some kind of joke.
“Lorah my dear, this a Barnes wedding and if I say its happening today, I can make it happen, so just listen to whatever Ann says”.
and just like that I did only what I was told to do, what to wear, but none of the actual preparations involved me, the whole wedding preparations went by in a haze with not a single word from my husband to be, running an empire is not easy he must be busy, I kept reassuring myself that it would get better when we get married.
