The medical screening took an hour.

Blood draw. Scent analysis. Physical exam. Questions about symptoms, exposure, anything unusual from the tunnels.

I answered everything the way Ronan and I practiced. Kept my voice steady. My hands still.

The injection was working. The technician frowned a few times at the scent analyzer results, but eventually marked me as cleared.
