The moment the door opened, the air in the room changed.

Ronan stood tall, calm, collected… but I could feel the tension in his shoulders from where I sat.

I stayed on the far side of the room just like he told me. My breathing was shallow.

Hale stepped inside slowly.

His eyes moved across the room, sharp and searching.

He never entered a place without scanning it first.

He was too careful for that.
