We didn't sleep. How could we?

At eleven PM, another message came from Mercer.

“Emergency meeting. Tonight. Can't wait until morning. Too much to discuss. Hale agrees. Old library basement. Midnight. Bring everyone. -Mercer”

So here we were. Midnight. All of us gathered in the basement again. Exhausted but wired on adrenaline.

Mercer arrived first. Then Hale. The two of them stood on opposite sides of the room. Not hostile exactly. But not friendly either.
