Melody's Point of View
I drove into the hospital, accelerating at the speed of the car. I parked while switching off the radio.
I was looking for something important while I stared through my safe. My hands rambling through the document while it poured on the floor
“Where is the goddamn paper,” I muttered while staring around the car, as I looked backwards towards the back…
“Oh… that is it over there,” I soliloquized while pointing towards it, however, my fingers couldn't reach it.
Quickly, I unblocked my seat belt, pushing it towards the chair while I had finally gotten out. The thing about everything was I couldn't get into the hospital without my ID card.
I meant my police badge. Immediately I had gotten it, I locked the door while it gave a final beep.
“Who are you looking for, ma’am,” a beautiful young nurse asked me, and for a split second, I forgot his name.
“Kel…vin,” I stammered, tapping my hands repeatedly on the counter.
“Are you fine, Ms,” she asked while I nodded my head, but…
I wasn't. Today had really been a long day for me, and I hadn't even reached half of how my day would go, yet I was already stressed out.
“Ms, you really don't look fine. Should I get you an immediate check-up plan?” She insisted, yet I shook my head rapidly.
“Please direct me to Kelvin Stone’s room,” I demanded while she responded to me.
Leading me towards the room, “we had to move him towards the VIP section today because of the attack that was placed on him, it was a bit severe,” she said while I nodded my head like I understood.
I didn't understand anything, I was too tired to have understood whatever she was trying to pass across.
She left immediately while pointing towards the room. “
Thank you,” I said slowly as she smiled gently at me.
“Where have you been since morning,” Mary's voice greeted me immediately I made my first step into the room…
My gaze traveled towards Kelvin
who had turned the bed he was lying on, to a chair…
“I thought you were terribly shaped up in the incident, how come you are this active,” I said in a low tone as I walked towards them…
Kelvin was my colleague, we had gone through high school together. Funny how most people shipped us together, including Mary who was my girl best friend during high school.
“What the hell are you thinking of while smiling, Hun,” Mary teased me as Kelvin smiled slowly.
“Nothing!” I lied while staring at both of them in a way that brought admiration.
I was super happy both Kelvin and Mary ended up together as couples. I mean, what if Kelvin ended up with a totally different person?
“It's so cute to see you guys all lovey-dovey,” I smiled at them while Mary teased at me, walking towards where I sat as she leaned her arm towards my shoulders while she sat on the black iron-rimmed chair.
“Have you found someone,” a question she dropped on me hit me like a bulldozer…
“I came here to check up on Kelvin,” I said trying to distract her, they hadn't told me, how he got into an accident or something.
“How did his accident happen, Mary,” I directed the question towards her, my eyes filled with worry.
“Before we answer your question. You have to answer my girlfriend's question, are you currently seeing someone, Melody?”
I really didn't know why the two were teasing me with that, but the more they did, the more just one image kept popping up in my mind.
“I'm not seeing anyone,” I answered quietly while I spotted Mary pouting her lips. I wanted to say something, but I kept quiet.
Silence rambled through the ward, the VIP ward was quite big, it wasn't the regular at all, painted with beige with a television and sofa.
“This place looks quite expensive,” I voiced, staring at Kelvin who nodded in response.
‘Yeah, the boss paid for it,” he said as I shook my mouth wide in shock.
“You mean boss Alfred?” This time around I asked to be very sure.
We were just middle class with careers, for us, there wasn't really a lot our lives revolved around except, career, survival, and our lives, that's how normal it had been except for me: Melody whose life has been a roller coaster at a very young age.
I had divorced my husband because he was cheating, and right there in the prenup we both signed , it was stated that if he did , I would get more than half of his property that way.
You know most times, I'm just there wondering about what life is really all about, my life had really been boring, just a young lady with few friends, a lot of colleagues, and her job, except when…
“Melody!” Mary called out while my thoughts split into shatters.
“Yes, Mary,” I responded almost immediately while she looked at me.
“Could you please look after Kelvin for a while, I have a very important call to pick,” she signaled while I nodded.
“Did I tell you we are getting married soon?”
“What!” I bumped at Kelvin’s sentence.
“Brr, are you really being real right now?” I questioned, but he shook his head while staring at me.
“Yeah, the invitations would be out to you all in a week's time.”
I grabbed my bag immediately after hearing Kelvin's sentence.
“Why are you leaving,” he questioned, however, I snared at them both the moment Mary walked in.
“You are getting married and I'm not among the first set of people , you are telling, crazy!”
I muttered while balancing my foot steadily on the floor, adjusting the strap of my sneakers
I was just pissed off, I mean why would I be the last person to know…
Oops… I forgot I was divorced, and at that moment, I knew nothing about men.
“ Maybe that's why you guys didn't tell me , because I'm divorced “ , I stormed out of the ward in a bit of rage
