Erick’s POV

Without warning, a crossbow bolt shot through the dark.

Erick barely reacted. He made an ice shield and stopped the bolt from hitting Deborah's heart. More bolts came, many of them. They were surrounded.

"Behind me!" Erick yelled, pulling Deborah close. The cave entrance burst open.

Hunters rushed in. There were at least fifteen, with weapons to kill hybrids. Silver crossbows, blades touched by dark magic, and chains that glowed to stop powers. They were ready.
