“I guess I’ll just tell your wife.”

The words hung in the air. They came out of her mouth so casually, as if she was commenting on the weather.

Something inside me snapped.

My face went numb, turning into a mask of hard stone. I could feel a heavy pulse thrumming in the muscle at my temple. The room suddenly seemed to shrink, the walls closing in until all I could see was the smug look on her face.
