Lynn's POV

The dinner ends late. Baron and Lira have fallen asleep upstairs in the game room, curled together on a large cushion surrounded by toys and new friends.

I carry Baron. Warren carries Lira. Grandmother follows with our coats.

The cold night air hits my face as we step outside. Snow crunches under our feet. The guards nod as we pass.

"Thank you for tonight," I tell Warren. "For everything. The children—they needed this."
