Lynn's POV

The sky is barely gray when I leave the hospital. Mom fell asleep around four. Dad's still in that chair beside her bed, holding her hand like he's afraid she'll disappear.

I don't say goodbye to him. Can't.

Warren's SUV is waiting outside. He doesn't ask questions. Just drives me to my parents' house in silence.

The house is dark. Quiet. I unlock the door with shaking hands.
