What a hell of a project Reunion

Kehlani.

2nd period. I was out of class. Went to the restroom. Coming out, I was surprised to see Elliot standing. What's he doing here? Anyways, I'll ignore.

“Hey Kehlani.” He ran his hands through his hair. I knew that look.

“Hi.” I stated dryly, brushing past him but he held by my arms and I shoved it angrily away.

“You're feisty.”

“Of course. You should go talk to Maddie instead. After all, she's your new girl.” I eyed him.

“Oh. Wow. You now have an attitude. You've changed.” He said, calmly. Referring to my looks and all.

“Yes. I have an attitude towards you because I won't let you ride on me again.” I snapped. “That Kehlani is dead. Thanks to you. Don't talk to me. I have nothing to do with you.”.

I tried to walk away but he wasn't ready to stop with his stupid games.

“Hold up. I'm being serious.” He touched me and I gave distance.

“Look, whatever you're trying to do? Just forget about it. You already got what you wanted. You made your choice and embarrassed me loudly.”

Before he could respond, an arm draped over my shoulder. I flinched but relaxed upon seeing the face.

“Hey babe.”

I smirked, seeing the scowl formed on Elliot's face.

“Is there a problem here?” He kissed my neck and I blushed. Trevor is a demon. He knew exactly what he was doing. And I loved the look of jealousy on Elliot's face.

“No problems here.” I sighed. “I was just about to go to class when he stopped me here.”

Elliot's jaw clenched. “Nothing you need to know. It's just a conversation.”

“Good. Cos, um, I don't like my girlfriend talking to strangers.” Trevor said before pulling me away back into class.

“Great job.” I squealed. “You should have seen the look on his face.”

“Yeah. I dropped a nuclear bomb.”

“How did you know when to show up?”

“The moment you left class, he stood up. Knew something would be fishy.”

We walked back to our seats and I stayed closer to him this time. Probably the class knew we were dating.

Class was over and there was no game today. Olive had said goodbye to me and Maddie's voice rang in my ears as Trevor and I packed.

“Don't go home yet.” She crossed her arms, flipping her hair with this attitude of hers.

“Why?” I dislike Maddie for what she did.

“Is that even a question? Did you forget about the project work?”

“No. Did you?”

“Excuse me? I'm the one reminding you about it.” She eyed me.

“Whatever. Say what you wanna.” I crossed my arms too. If not for this project work, I have no business with Maddie.

“Let's go already?”

“Where?”

“Elliot's house.”

“What? No.” I disagreed.

“Why? He isn't your boyfriend anymore so why not accept.”

“Exactly. Ex. I shouldn't be in his house. I have nothing to do there.” I snapped.

“I agree. We could find another place.” Trevor said, running my arms from my back.

“We are using Elliot's home. That's on period.”

“No. Don't be like that. How'd you expect us to take pictures from your boyfriend's home? We need some neutral place. Maybe the train station near Oakridge.”

“You want us to use a deserted station?” She huffed.

“You want us to use your boyfriend's living room?” I fired her back.

Silence.

“What's going on?” Elliot walked in the class. Just the four of us.

“Babe. Kehlani's useless as hell. I was just trying to tell her we use your house.”

“You are pathetic as well.” I pulled away from Trevor's grip ready to attack Maddie.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa. Easy there.” He held me back and faced Maddie.

“Don't you dare call my girlfriend useless.”

“And what's with you? Why are you attacking my own girlfriend?” Elliot raised his brow.

“Excuse you, you weren't deaf when you heard Maddie's pathetic insults.” Trevor shrugged.

“I think that's enough argument.” I cut in. We'd go nowhere with all of these.

Elliot and Trevor were glaring at themselves like they were ready for war.

“Look, there's a lake and this abandoned antique store close to my house. We can use it. Ready or not?” Elliot said with furrowed brows.

Ain't no way I was going to my ex's house.

“I can't….”

“Fine. Let's go, then.” Trevor cut me off, sending me eye contact not to argue further.

“Let's go. Whatever.” Maddie flipped her hair.

We came out of school and Elliot and Maddie drove away in his car while Trevor followed behind in order to not miss tracks although I knew the road to the house. The car pulled up to the driveway when we arrived and I sighed heavily.

“You okay?” Trevor asked.

“I think so.” All the memories start flooding in. The nights I snuck in. Our kisses and all.

“Don't think about it. I know what you're thinking of.”

I opened the door. “You know what? Fuck Elliot. I don't give a shit about what we had before. The past is in the past.”

“That's the spirit. Let's get this over with.” Trevor opened the door and circled to come hold my hands.

“Home sweet home.” I whispered to Trevor while we were seated.

“You mean home bitter home.” He whispered back and I couldn't hold my laughter.

Too many memories in this house. Across from us, Maddie and Elliot sat together.

“So guys, are we going to sit here pretending we don't know anything or what?”

Trevor blurts, “you ask me? You're the leader, so lead.”

“I was asking for support.” She frowned.

Elliot interrupts. “Guys, can we not? This is a project. Not some emotional breakdown.”

Trevor scoffs. “You'd know all about emotional breakdowns.”

Elliot stood up. “What the fuck Is your problem, man?”

Trevor, still relaxed on the couch, with an arm stretched across the back.

“My problem? Oh please. My problem is you act like you didn't humiliate the girl you're working with. Don't act like the peace maker now. Speaking of emotional breakdown, you're the boss in giving that out.”

Elliot looked at me. “You told him that?”

“I didn't have to. The whole school saw it.”

Maddie cleared her throat and we were all silent. “Let's start with the outline of our work.”

This wasn't just project work. It was hell.
