After finishing breakfast, I head back to my quarters, politely declining Isola’s repeated invitation to join her in exploring the eastern wing. Her bubbly energy makes her hard to refuse without seeming unkind, but I need time for myself. More importantly, I need a bath and an outfit that doesn’t scream, ‘accidental addition to the pack’s hierarchy.’
