Damien’s eyes never left Mason.Mason didn’t shift his stance.

And I, stuck between them, felt the tension coil like a drawn bowstring ready to snap.

Damien took one step closer, voice low, and too controlled.

“Mason. Betty.”

Mason straightened. “Alpha.”

Damien’s gaze narrowed ever so slightly, unreadable and sharp enough to cut stone.
