“I propose… a trial. One that will determine whether she truly holds the power worthy of a Luna.”

My breath caught. A trial?

Gasps filled the chamber, even among the elders. Damien’s hand brushed mine protectively, ready to fight.

But the elder’s voice deepened.

“And if she survives… we will have no choice but to accept her.”

My heart dropped into my stomach.
