Betty's POV. 

I reached for the folded piece of paper Megan had been holding between her fingers, looking puzzled, unsure what it was about.

Unfolding it, I read aloud with uncertainty.

“Betty, it’s not what you think happened between Megan and me. Please give me a chance to explain. Meet me at Brownhall’s Café tomorrow if you will be available.  Yours dearly, Louise.”

The name at the bottom hit me like a cold wave. My lips parted, but no words came out.
