The world came back slowly, like someone dragging me out of deep water.

I couldn’t feel my fingers, my heartbeat, or even the weight of my body. 

I was floating inside myself, trapped behind a numb stillness that terrified me more than pain ever could.

Voices echoed around me, muffled and heavy, as if I listened through thick walls.
