Betty's POV. 

“Betty!”Megan’s voice cut through the chill, panting a little as she hurried toward me. “Your attention is needed inside. They’ve been looking for you.”

I swallowed the lump in my throat and forced my feet to move. 

The warmth and noise from the hall hit me as soon as we stepped back in. The laughter, music, champagne glasses clinking, and people buzzing with excitement. 

Their joy crackled in the air like fireworks, but for me, it all felt… far away.
