I stood frozen, the warm sun beating down on my skin as the urge to swim to Claire suddenly vanished. 

Alpha Xavier's piercing gaze locked onto us, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. 

As we prepared to leave, his deep voice cut through the air, sending a thrill of tension through me.

"When is Claire moving in with me?" he asked, his eyes narrowing slightly as if daring us to dodge the question.
