Damien stood by the window already dressed, arms crossed, watching the first light creep across the sky. When he heard me shift.

“You’re awake,” he said while turning, his voice low, but already carrying that edge of worry, he tried to hide.

“Barely,” I croaked.

He walked over, offering his hand. I ignored it and tried to stand on my own, only to nearly drop right back onto the bed.
