"You reminded me of my younger self," he said, walking past me with a precise calmness. "And this garden holds many beautiful yet painful memories," he said.  As he managed to keep his voice steady.  

I turned slightly, watching his back as he moved. The meaning behind his words slipped through me like mist, impossible to grasp.
