The shadows swallowed us before my mind even caught up.

Claire yanked my hand so hard my shoulder nearly snapped, and the champion—our supposed enemy, now our accidental ally bolted beside us. 

His boots thundered against the stone floor.

“Go!” he hissed.

Behind us, that voice roared again, closer this time.“STOP RIGHT THERE!”

My pulse hammered wildly. The corridor stretched like a tunnel with no end, torches blurring into streaks of gold as we sprinted.
