The cabin was quiet after all that noise.

Caleb found a bottle of wine while I kicked off my heels by the door, and we ended up on the couch with our legs stretched out, glasses in hand, talking the way we always did when everything outside had finally gone quiet.

“That third quarter,” he said, shaking his head slowly, “Baltimore came back out and I genuinely could not see what they were doing differently.”
