Chapter 5

Rose stood in front of the big white building. Flowers bloomed on every side. She had asked the receptionist for directions. The woman pointed to the stairs. “Second floor. Knock before you enter.” Rose climbed the steps. Her heart beat fast. She reached the office door. She knocked twice. No answer came. She pushed the door open.

The room smelled of leather and coffee. Evidence sat behind a wide desk. Sunlight poured through the windows. Rose stepped inside.

“Good morning, sir.” She let out a long breath. She walked a few steps closer. “Good morning, sir.”

Evidence said nothing. He stared. His eyes moved over her body. Rose had a perfect figure-eight shape. Her skin glowed. Her hair fell soft around her face. She looked natural and beautiful. Evidence could not look away.

“My name is Rose,” she said. “I am here for the interview. I heard about the job yesterday. I came today.”

Still silent, Evidence thought about her in his bed. How would she feel? How would she taste?

Rose waved a hand. “Hello, sir.”

He blinked. “Yes. How are you?”

“I am fine, sir. I am here for the interview.”

“Oh. Forgive me. Please sit.”

“Thank you, sir.”

Rose sat in the chair across the desk. Her skirt stayed neat. Her hands rested on her knees.

“Tell me,” Evidence said. “What job do you want?”

“Sir, I do not have one job in mind. I will take any position you give me.”

“You have no idea what you want to do?”

“Yes, sir. I mean, no, sir. I finished school at Oxford University here in the U.S. I studied accounting. But I will clean floors. I will pack boxes. Anything.”

“I understand. Show me your papers.”

Rose opened her bag. She pulled out her folder. She handed it over. Evidence flipped the pages. Good grades. Top marks.

“Very good results,” he said. He gave the folder back.

“Thank you, sir.”

“You are twenty-two?”

“Yes, sir.”

“You look older.”

Rose smiled. “It is how I am, sir.”

“Fine. Let us talk business. There is no open job here. Someone took the last spot yesterday. No more space. But… there is another job. Can you be a caregiver?”

“Caregiver?”

He nodded.

“Yes, sir! I love children. I would be happy to care for a child.”

“Children?” Evidence smiled small. “You will not care for a child.”

“Then who, sir?”

“Me.” He looked straight into her eyes. His lips curved up.

“You, sir?”

“Yes. I have a cook. I have cleaners. Many servants. Your job is to care for me. I will pay six million every month.”

Rose blinked. “Sir, what does a caregiver do for you?”

“You should not ask. If you cared for a three-year-old child, would you ask the child what to do? No. You would know.”

“But, sir, caring for a child is different from caring for a man.”

“Shhh. Am I old?”

Rose closed her mouth.

“I am not old. So, can you be my caregiver?”

“Sir, you still have not told me my duties. I need to know.”

“Fine. You want details. First, you will get me ready for work. Dress me like a mother dresses her little boy for school. Second, you will bathe me. You will wash me.”

Rose’s eyes grew wide. Bathe him? Was he serious?

“Are you listening?” he asked.

“Yes, sir.”

“Good. Third, you will feed me. You will put food in my mouth. Last, you will go everywhere with me. You will do your duties. And you will protect me from women.”

Protect him from women? Did he think she was his wife?

Evidence read her face. “I am not married. You are not my wife. That is why I pay. I will add one million. Seven million each month. When do you start?”

Start? Now? Rose needed time to think. She wanted work. But this?

Evidence waited. His eyes stayed on her.

“Your work starts now,” he said.

“Sir…”

“Yes?”

“Nothing. Sir, I cannot take the job. I can dress you. I can feed you. But I cannot bathe you. I am sorry.”

“No woman says no to me. No woman has ever tried. You have no choice.”

“I do have a choice, sir.”

“Then leave.”

“Thank you, sir.”

Rose stood. She walked to the door. Her hand turned the handle. She stepped out. The door closed with a soft click.

Evidence sat still. His throat moved up and down. He licked his lips. He pictured those lips on Rose’s small, perfect breasts. The door was shut. He snapped out of the dream.

Did she just walk away? A woman said no to him?

He had just finished his morning exercise with Rita. Still, he wanted more. His name should be Mr. Sexdence, not Mr. Evidence.
