“Addicus!!!” I shouted, running to his side, ignoring the pain still thumping in my ears. I skidded on my knees until I stopped right next to his prone form. Addicus was choking for air, the hole in his neck created by McAllister’s sword all but guaranteed his death. He gazed up at me, our eyes locked. He smiled. He couldn’t say anything.
