Lila’s POV

“We’ll be back in few minutes” one of the maids said and I nodded. I knew fully well that it was going to be the last time I’d hear from them for the day.

It had become a norm for the maids of the Alpha Reign Pack to leave the chores to me and I had no right to complain about it, I was just an Omega; the only Omega in the pack.

I was brought into the pack when my mother died. I grew up far away from the pack and I always wondered why my mom chose that path. It couldn’t be because of the way she was treated….

Anyways back to how I got here

After my mom died, my aunt came for me and she brought me into the pack even though most people were against the idea. Despite having to work out my ass all day, I loved being in the pack because it made me feel less lonely unlike when I and my mother were the only werewolves living amongst humans.

“Hmph” I sighed looking around the kitchen, I was convinced that I had done a great job and just in time, the Pack council meeting had come to an end!

I hurriedly wiped my hands on a clean napkin and got out of the kitchen sneaking my way into the hallway. While walking down the hallway, my eyes darted all over the place, looking left and right for signs of anyone as I made sure I wasn’t seen by anyone. It was a taboo for an Omega to be seen in the hallways of the Alphas except summoned.

Suddenly, I heard approaching footsteps..

“We should go back to help Lila with the chores” Stacey said. She was the kindest to me.

“She’s an Omega! Omegas were born for that reason!” Akira, the meanest of them all said and they all laughed.

I could feel them coming my way and I hurriedly sought for where to hide but I couldn’t find any place-

I felt a strong grasp around my wrist and I was pulled swiftly, my head colliding on a hard chest. I gulped when a familiar scent hit my nose and I looked up. My eyes met with intense peering hazel eyes which softened almost immediately; it was Alpha Ethan.

“I’ve always told you to be careful out here” he said in a soft tone and I nodded slowly. I could literally feel my heartbeat double up; it always did whenever I was around him.

I stared in admiration as he peeped into the hallway. When the hallway was as silent as a graveyard, he stepped out and walked towards his room. I dragged my feet hurriedly behind him to match his pace but I was careful enough not to walk ahead of him.

“Lock the door behind you” he said closing the linen curtains, shutting out the natural light.

“You didn’t come to visit yesterday” he walked towards the door, I didn’t realize that I had been standing there since I came in.

“I.. I..” I stuttered but no words came forth from my twisted tongue.

“You did what?” this time, we were only a breath away that I could feel his cool breath on my neck and I felt a rush of breeze flow through my body.

His fingers brushed across my hair and I could feel my knees becoming weak. Ethan always did that because he knew I reacted differently to it.

“I was occupied with a lot of chores” I finally found the words to express myself as I inhaled trying not to be mesmerized by him.

“You can relax now” he backed off with a smirk—he loved teasing me.

“Thanks” I took a deep breath as I made my way to his king sized bed where Ethan had already made himself comfortable.

I swallowed hard as my eyes wandered around the room, my mind contemplating on how to break the news to him.

“Are you alright?” He rolled over to where I was seated and he placed his hands on my thighs. I turned to look at him. His hazel eyes held a concerned look and I smiled “yes I am”

I was totally alright, I was happy! I just didn’t know how to tell him-

“Are the maids leaving all the work for you? Are they treating you badly?” He took my wrist and scanned it, checking for bruises

“Who did this? I’d make sure the person pays for it” His tone was fierce when he saw a cut at the back of my palm

“Its just a minor burn” I blushed. I had gotten the burn while in the kitchen with Akira, she claimed it was a mistake but I was certain that it wasn’t but I knew that it was going to end soon!

“I’m pregnant” I blurted out turning away with a sheepish smile on my face.

I was sure my life as a maid was ending soon! I was carrying the next alpha! Akira wouldn’t look down on me anymore. No one would look down on me anymore; I smiled at that.

My countenance changed when I didn’t hear anything from Ethan. I was expecting a joyful atmosphere but it was as silent as a graveyard.

“Did you do so much work today?” Alpha Ethan asked after few minutes of silence.

He ignored me!

I turned abruptly to him “I said I’m pregnant” I announced again convincing myself that perhaps he didn’t hear me previously.

“And I heard you” this time, his tone was very unfriendly. I had never heard him speak to me in this manner before and my heart skipped a beat. I could feel rage building up within him, but why?

“Did working so hard make you confused?” He thundered clenching his fists

“Wh.. wh.. what?” My lips moved. I couldn’t understand what was going on.

“What am I supposed to do with that information? Announce you as my mate?”

Yes! That was what I wanted and I thought he wanted the same too. That was what I expected. I had high hopes that my life would become better for good. I placed my hands firmly on my chest, I could feel extreme pain in my chest.

What have I gotten myself into?

“How sure am I that what you’re carrying is my child? I can never have a child with a mere omega!” He said with pure disgust.
