Samantha
"Stay away from me, you asshole!" I shrieked in despair as yet another wolf guard attacked me, landing a jaw-breaking blow to my chin, and almost rendering me unconscious.
I wanted to fight back. Anything, but give into the darkness that was trying to pull me under.
I wasn't that strong, and they knew it.
It was only a matter of time before they broke me completely.
"This is what you get for being a whore, Sam." Gracie spat, coming to stand in front of me, while two half-shifted wolves held me down.
Now more than ever, I needed a wolf, but no matter how I cried and begged, I felt empty inside.
"Please. I do not know what you are talking about!" I begged, my eyes burning as tears streamed down my face.
Gracie's expression only turned in disgust at my words. "Liar! You think being mated to the Alpha would save you from punishment? You think Alpha Logan doesn't already know how you have been whoring yourself to a mere pack hand all these while?"
My mind reeled at the accusation.
What was she talking about?
I had turned eighteen just two months ago, and would never had thought that I would be mated to the Alpha of Bellmoon.
Logan Bellmont, had set his eyes on me, recognizing me as his mate, and despite me not having a wolf, he had staked his claim.
Just thinking about him now sent different emotions coursing through me.
Tonight was the mating ceremony. The ceremony where he would finally claim me, in front of everyone.
But things had gone horribly wrong.
One moment I had been waking from a hangover, and in the other I was being dragged from my bed and pushed to the ground like a criminal by two men I recognised as council guards.
Only one person, apart from the Alpha, Beta, and Delta, could have them at her disposal.
Gracie. Daughter of the high council chief.
I had known Gracie had her eyes on Logan from day one. Had made sure to cling to him as much as she could, and even warned everyone to stay away from him. But when I had turned eighteen, and Logan had set his eyes on me, she had relented, even leaving the pack on a short break.
It was like she had suddenly disappeared.
Until yesterday.
"I swear I didn't do anything! Please Gracie, I don't even have any idea of what you are talking about." I pleaded.
Where was Logan?
I really needed to see him.
I turned to the men who held me. "You do realise I am the Alpha's mate, and this is treason, if the Alpha learns of this_" my words were cut short by a slap to my face.
"Shut the fuck up, you bitch." she yelled.
My face twisted, the sound of my jaw popping filled the air.
"You are not a Luna yet. And after this, you will never be one." She hissed and spat on me.
I felt completely weak.
My body shook from the pain.
"Here!" Gracie pressed her phone close to my face. "Isn't this you and Gregor, huh? Or you want to deny that damn blonde hair of yours?"
Even though my eyes were already closing, I looked at the video that stared back at me in a pain-filled daze. "How did you get this?" The words fell from my mouth like sand.
In the video, Gregor had his arms around a blonde woman, his lips buried in her neck before pulling her through a door I recognized all to well.
My bedroom.
They shut the door behind them, and in the next scene, Gregor came out of the room, a smile on his lips and walked away. After a few seconds the door opened, and a very familiar woman walked out, looking dazed, her hair and clothes disheveled.
The woman was me.
Pain seared through me, and I looked away, unable to see anymore of it.
There was no doubt what was on that screen, and no one was ever going to believe otherwise.
How was it even possible?
I hadn't even been with... Gregor..
From the clothes I was wearing, it was the party that had taken place just the previous night.
The same party I had. been so weak and sleepy Logan had offered to take me home.
But he had had an emergency and i had insisted on going home alone..
"This..This..It wasn't me! I swear I didn't do any...anything!" I stammered, trying to pull away from the grip of those me. "Where is Logan?" I croaked. "Where is..Gregor?"
Maybe if they found him, he would explain what the heck was going on in that video...
Cheating on the Alpha was a crime punishable by banishment, or death.
Most times it was better to be dead, than be banished and mauled by rogues.
Gracie's mouth opened dramatically at my question. "You dare ask about your lover. Have you no shame?"
She crouched so she was at my level.
"Well, Gregor is currently being taken care of by the Alpha, and then he will come for you, Sam." Her tone was low and menacing.
"I hope he gives me the permission to do away with you, because I would be more than happy to drive that silver stake through your cheating heart." she brought her face closer. "I always warned you, Samantha. I told you the Alpha was mine, and I would destroy anyone who came in my way. But you did not listen."
"You cannot force a mating bond, Gracie." I whispered, my whole body screaming in pain.
Gracie laughed in my face. "When you have what it takes to be a Luna, you can do anything."
I wanted to tear away from the men holding me down. I wanted so much to tear that beautiful face of hers apart till her flesh hung in strips, but I couldn't.
Even if I had a wolf, I couldn't touch Gracie. No matter how much I wanted to.
The door opened just then and I held my breath as Logan entered.
Gracie quickly jumped away from me.
The jeans he was wearing stretched taut over his muscles, and so did the round neck shirt.
Logan looked every bit of the brutal Alpha he was known to be. In the two months we had been together, he had shown me a side that only a few people ever got to see.
Blood stained the face I loved with every part of my being.
His eyes were glowing red, and there was no look of sympathy in his expression.
What had he done?
Had he killed him?
Had he torn him apart?
"Logan..." I whispered, knowing just then as I stared back at him, that there was no explanation I could give to redeem myself.
He turned his furious gaze to me, his power pressing me down.
"Logan..." I begged, staring into the eyes of the man I loved. The man who had staked his claim on me in front of everyone.
But in those red glowing eyes of his, all I could see was anger, and a dangerous thirst for revenge.
"You more than anyone should know that I do not forgive betrayal." The words were like ice. "And certainly not from my mate."
I closed my eyes as he stalked towards me.
The last time he had been in my room, it was for totally different reasons.
Was he going to kill me?
Guild riddled my veins and filled every corner of my mind at the thought of the past twenty four hours leading to this moment.
I expected pain.
I expected force as Logan came closer, but instead I heard muscles as he crouched to my level.
"Open you eyes and look at me while I speak to you, Samantha." His tone was death cold.
My eyes slowly opened and I held back a sob from just how close he was.
I could see the conflict in his eyes.
But there was more danger there than anything remotely soft.
He was waiting for me to speak.
"I..." The taste of coper filled my mouth. "I..."
Say something, Sam!!
"I swear I didn't do it..The video, I swear it's not real. It's not true."
But even as I said those words, I knew he wasn't listening to me. He didn't believe me.
"Why are you listening to her! You should be beheading this slut!" Gracie's voice was full of impatience from where she stood behind him.
Logan ignored her totally, his gaze still set on me.
"I'm so sorry, Logan." I managed, and brought my gaze down.
What else was I supposed to say?
But in the splitting second before I looked away, I saw his eyes grow completely dark.
He got to his feet.
And I knew exactly what was coming next before he even opened his mouth to speak.
My chest closed in.
"I, Logan Belmont, Alpha of Bellmoon pack, reject you, Samantha Greyfield, as my mate. From this day onward, you are nothing to me. Not my mate, not my Luna, nothing."
The pain was searing.
I bowed my head, sealing my eyes shut as the mating bond severed.
My whole body convulsed but I was held in place by the guards.
Logan didn't spare me another look as he left me, with Gracie running after him like a puppet.
I heard my mother and my father rush in. Strong arms lifted me, and mum sobbed, pleading for me to stay with them.
The last thought as the darkness took me, was how better it would have been, if he had just killed me.
