I watched the whole scene keenly.

Samantha was very sad. Olivia was sad too, and they were talking to eachother in a very low voice, almost inaudible.

I ordinarily did not care about what they were talking about. They were best friends, and so they were definitely going to have that emotional farewell discussion.
