I pushed down my nerves as I started the engine, blocking out the tester sitting in my passenger seat with a clipboard in one hand and a pen in the other. Slowly, I backed out of the parking space, carefully watching my surroundings to make sure I didn't have an accident or hit anybody.

I straightened up my car and shifted the gear into drive before crawling forward at a snail's pace, out of the parking lot and onto the empty street.
