“Will he be okay?” I asked as Leo took off.

“I don’t know,” Maia admitted with a shrug. “Usually he always is.”

I sighed and looped my arm through hers. I tugged her and we walked through the compound.

“So, Leo is a hybrid?” I asked slowly. I glanced sideways at Maia. She bit her lip nervously like she didn’t want to reveal too much about her brother, like she was protecting him.
