Stella burst forth from the small crowd and shouted, “Surprise!” as a huge banner reading “Happy Birthday, Amelia!” was rolled out.

I was dazed. I had forgotten about my birthday. I was caught up in a mix of work and handling my broken heart to remember that today was my birthday.
