Adrian’s POV
Every part of me screamed, every instinct roared but my feet kept moving. Closer. Always closer. Even though logic warned me against it, even though my Alpha demanded restraint, something deeper—hungry, unrelenting—pulled me toward her.
Sienna was there, quiet, radiant in the soft light, and the sight of her made my chest tighten. She didn’t have to move or speak. Just being there, just existing in the same room, made restraint feel fragile, like a thread about to snap.
“You’re… tense,” she said, voice low, teasing, and yet careful. Her eyes held a daring I couldn’t resist. “Something’s going on with you.”
I let my gaze linger on her, every detail burned into my mind: the way her hair fell over her shoulders, the subtle curve of her neck, the softness of her hands resting on the table. “You notice everything,” I muttered, but it wasn’t irritation. It was awe. A warning I couldn’t heed.
“You can’t hide it from me,” she whispered, stepping a fraction closer. “I know what you’re feeling. I can see it.”
Her honesty struck a chord deep in me, making my wolf stir, growling low in frustration and need. My Alpha demanded possession, and my human heart ached to surrender. I wanted her, needed her—but restraint still lingered, just barely.
“I’ve been trying to keep it together,” I admitted, voice rough, quiet. “Trying to—hold back…”
Her fingers brushed mine lightly, almost by accident, and the spark it sent through me was undeniable. I swallowed hard, letting the moment stretch, letting the hunger rise like a tide I could no longer control.
“Trying doesn’t matter anymore,” she said softly, gaze steady, unwavering. “Not when this—whatever this is—has been building for months.”
I could feel the tension cracking, every nerve on fire. My hands reached for her, trembling, hesitant, yet drawn irresistibly. Her warmth pressed against me, the proximity overwhelming, and for a moment, the world disappeared. There was only her, and the ache inside me that had been growing, demanding release.
“I don’t care about the consequences,” I murmured, letting my hands settle on her waist, feeling the heat of her skin. “I want this. I want you.”
Her breath hitched, soft and unguarded, and I realized she wanted it too. Not recklessly, not carelessly—she wanted it in the same way I did: dangerous, thrilling, impossible to resist.
I drew her closer, lips finding hers in a kiss that was fierce and tender all at once. Every restraint I had clung to, every rule I had followed, shattered with the press of her lips against mine.
And just like that, the line we had been dancing around vanished.
The wolf growled in satisfaction. The Alpha demanded more. The man? Helpless, human, desperate.
And for the first time, I didn’t care about holding back.
Because some desires aren’t meant to wait.
And mine had already claimed her.
Her lips pressed against mine, soft but insistent, and for a heartbeat, the world fell away. Every thought I had about consequences, control, and right or wrong vanished. The only thing that existed was the heat of her body, the sharp rhythm of her heartbeat against mine, and the pull that had been building for months.
She pulled back slightly, just enough to look me in the eyes, and I saw it there—trust, curiosity, and a flicker of mischief that made my wolf growl in satisfaction. “You… didn’t hold back,” she whispered, and it wasn’t a question.
“No,” I admitted, my voice rough. “I can’t anymore. Not with you. Not ever.”
Her hands lingered on my chest, feeling the tension and need I had spent so long denying. “And what does that mean for us?” she asked softly.
I hesitated, the weight of the forbidden pressing down. “It means… everything changes. I’ve crossed a line I can’t uncross, and I don’t know if we can ever go back.”
She tilted her head, daring me with those impossible eyes. “Maybe we don’t need to go back,” she said. “Maybe this… us… is exactly where we’re supposed to be.”
Her words sent a shiver down my spine. I wanted to believe her, wanted to lose myself entirely in the moment, but my mind flickered to Ethan—her brother, my best friend. The consequences loomed large, like shadows over the heat and desire.
“I should be thinking about… everything,” I murmured, though my voice lacked conviction. “About what this could cost me… what it could cost you.”
She smiled faintly, leaning closer again. “I don’t care about the cost. I care about us. About right now.”
Her honesty, her bravery, made me ache even more. My wolf growled low, insistent and claiming. My Alpha demanded possession, but my human heart—fragile and reckless—was terrified of losing her in the wake of this choice.
And yet, I couldn’t stop myself. I pressed her back gently against the wall, holding her close, letting my hands trace the curves I had imagined countless times. Every second stretched, electric with tension, hunger, and a forbidden connection that neither of us could ignore.
“You’re mine,” I murmured, almost to myself, almost a warning, almost a confession. “Every part of you belongs to me. And I don’t know if I can ever go back.”
She smiled, soft but daring, and whispered, “Then don’t. Just stay with me… here.”
The words were dangerous, intoxicating, irresistible. My control was gone. My restraint shattered. And in that moment, I realized something terrifying and thrilling at the same time: we had stepped into a fire we couldn’t escape… and I didn’t want to.
